We planned to have Norikura Hot Dog Jam last weekend but because of bad weather it was postponed to this weekend. We had an awesome jam with snowboarders and skiers from 12 years old to 34 years old. Of course we served hot dogs and it was literally a Hot Dog Jam. Everybody rode, eat and enjoyed the session. Thank you so much for those who joined the jam and those who came to the park to it rip up. Let’s pump it up more next season!

We had such an amazing powder 2-3 days before the close of the season.  This year many ski resorts really struggled with snow and even in Norikura we had very little snow.  Having said that, we are super blessed with a high elevation of 1480 Meters … almost a mile high and this allows us to have some of the greatest snow on Honshu.  Check these kids and staff in a riding session during a snowboard camp at Northstar!

It’s already the end of snow season here in the mountains and we heard that city is worming up. Norikura ski resort will be open till this weekend. and we got some flesh SNOW today!!! This is winter in Norikura.Weather forecast is calling for snow tomorrow!?  Last two pics are new staff we got for this week end（Erica and Aaron).NORTHSTAR will be GENKI until the end of the snow season.

On Thursday Ken and I took our winter staff into the backcountry. The weather was great and we all had a good time hiking and riding together. We also saw some of our friends while we were hiking up so in the photos you will see some skiers.

We still have some rooms open for this weekend and we are expecting snow this week. Please let us know if you would like to get some end of the season powder here in Norikura.

We have local english class dueling winter season. We have such a variety  of people as beginner to advance, teenager to mothers age.Staff also look forward for this english class in once a week. One of friend K-kun, he never been foreign  country and speak really good english. There will be one more class for this season. We will have the “Norikura Hot Dog Jam” at Norikura-Kogen Onsen Skiresort. You can enter with skis or a snowboard. The competition is a slope style jam session. You can hit any item in the park. Judges will be the riders. Each rider will have three tickets and you need to give tickets to riders who you think cool or sick. Then winner goes to the one who has most tickets.

Prizes go to Mens and Wemen’s 1-3rd. And also best trick, best wipe out, etc chosen by park crew.

Entry fee is free. Let’s ride and eat hot dogs together

Here at the NORTHSTAR lodge, we have lots of adventure sports gear on the walls.

The first picture is a Kayak from a good friend of ours named Hide. The second  is a MTB from Tsubochi!! And we also have some Snow shoes (they used to be called “Kanjiki”) and some old wood skis.

We not only enjoy outdoor adventures but also indoor adventures, too.

SFC Rail Jam was on Saturday March 3rd at NORTHSTAR Park. 21 snowboarders and skiers competed in a jam session style comp and 8 riders made to the final. It was the 4th annual event and it seemed like the level of riders was higher than past years. You will not be able to feel this much energy with riders and spectators in any other place. Let’s feel the “groove” together next year!

AND we will have the “Norikura HOT DOG Jam” on Sunday March 22nd in the Snow Park of Norikura-Kogen Onsen Ski Resort. We will update the detail later but it will be free for entry and the riders will judge the jam session. Each rider has couple of tickets and give it to a rider they think is good and the rider who has the most tickets will be the winner. Both snowboarders and skiers can join. Let’s ride together.

We love to serve our guest and we love our adventure!  Yet we  have another love and that is our passion for the local community.  As you know, we are actively involved in the local ski resort.  Northstar is volunteering 100’s of hours worth of labor to create the “best little park” in Japan but we also “cheer for the locals” in a “kusataikai” like the BIG AIR COMP.    Thanks for supporting our great local ski hill!
