This weekend we had 1 luck guest for the Ride & Cut weekend. We had a good day cleaning up some down trees on one of the trails in Norikura on Saturday and then Sunday it rained. We ended up having a nice slow breakfast and then working on a new picnic bench in the NORTHSTAR basement. We are planning to build 3 more benches this spring so look for them this summer during MTB camps.

On Trail Derailleur Fix

One of the riders hit his derailleur on a rock and broke the hanger off the bike. I had broken my hanger last week and had ordered a spare and was able to use the extra one to do an on trail fix so he could still ride his bike.

皆さん次回ノーススターにくる時は、ぜひこのバニーホップメーターをトライしてみて下さい。[/jp]
[en]We had been talking about wanting to build a real bunny hop high jump kit last season but never got around to building it. So the other day Seiya and I went down to the home center and got some parts. We used 2 15cm cement block and 2 1m long fence poles. We then cut the fence poles to fit into the cement blocks and drilled holes for dowel to go up the poles ever 5cm for the hight bar to rest on. As you can see in the photos and the video it’s pretty easy to use and if you hit it the bar just fall off and nothing breaks. Yesterday was the first test and all went well. I was able to clear the 60cm mark once and Seiya got up to the 40cm mark.

Fuji, MTB, ふもとっぱら, アブラカタブラ, アブラカダブラ, フモトッパラ | No Comments[jp]先週末はダン、ヤマケンと自分お3人で日本マウンテンバイクガイド協会の設立を記念したイベントRide&Meetに行ってきました。12社30名のガイドが忍従から集まり100名のマウンテンバイカーをガイドし、一緒にライディングを楽しみました。前日の土曜日はガイドたちが集まり、マウンテンバイカーをどうやって増やし、どうやってより良いサービスを提供するかといた濃いー話しを夜遅くまでしていました。翌日のの日曜日は全くの初心者から経験者までをガイドしました。ふもとっぱらのバイクパークは富士山の麓にあり、素晴らしいトレイルと当日の最高のの天気に恵まれました。

This last weekend Dan, Ken and I went to the first annual national JAMGA (Japan Mountain Bike Guide Association) event. The event was a huge success with about 30 guides from all over Japan guiding and riding with over 100 Mt. Bikers. Saturday night the guides spent time hanging out and discussing the MTB community and how we can serve guests better and then on Sunday we guided many bikers from first timers to experienced riders. The bike park at Fumotoppara which is at the base of Mt. Fuji and the trails in that area are great and the weather was also amazing. Here are a few photos that I took on that day. さて、先日のブログで日本マウンテンバイクガイド協会がスタートした事をお伝えしましたが、JAMGA主催のイベント Ride&Meet 2010 が来週末4月25日(日)ふもとっぱらで行われます。ノーススターからもダン、セツ、ヤマケンの3名が参加する事が決定しました。乗鞍のシーズンは5月中旬以降といった感じですが、今シーズンキックオフ的なイベントです。ふもっとぱらでお会いしましょう！[/jp]

We posted a blog about Japan Mountain Bike Guide Association on the other day. We will have first JAMGA event, Ride&Meet 2010 at Fumotoppara on Sunday April 4th. Dan, Seth and ymkn will be there. This month we had a great time riding in some of the best weather we have had all season. The morning was little cool but then the sun came out and warmed everything up to make for one of the best MTB tours this season. As we rode today we could see how much the weather has changed and many of the Fall colors are out. Even though we still have about 3 weeks of MTB riding left this season my mind is starting to switch to Winter, Snow and Snowboarding. Actually our staff have been busy getting items ready for this years Snow Park in the Norikura Kogen Spa Resort. We hope you will come and enjoy the powder here at NORTHSTAR in Norikura Kogen.
