Little Ripper

I don’t want to sound like a bragging parent but my kid can rip. I should really say he will rip if he keeps at it and if I can get him on the mountain more. I took my son up for a mini session in the kids park at Mt. Norikura with one of our kids Burton LTR boards and he did pretty well. He was able to get up on his own and almost make a J turn. Ever since last year when he saw Shawn White in the Olympics he has been wanting to go snowboarding. And as soon as he took one run he asked me to build him a snow park and a big jump.

We are not officially taking “little ripper” lessons yet but we are in the process of creating some kids lessons for next season and we are taking some “case by case” kids lessons. Please inquire by phone or email from out contact page if your interested.

[jp]このゴールデンウィーク、ノーススターではキララキャンプとのコラボ企画Kirara@NORTHSTARが行われました。5日間で2泊3日のセッションを2回、乗鞍高原温泉スキー場最上部カモシカコースに作られたスプリングパークでのパークライディングとノーススターでのマウンテンバイク、チロリアントラバース、クライミングと盛りだくさんのキッズキャンプでした。初日はキッカーを跳ぶのがやっとだったキッズが最終日にはバッチリ180を決めたり、クライミングに目覚めるキッズがいたりとキッズの可能性を目の当たりにしました。

この企画は今回が初めてでしたが、スノーボード+αは海外のサマーキャンプでは定番のスタイル、これからもノーススターならではの様々なキャンプを提案していきます。[/jp][en]This last week we had a great time with the Kirara Kamp here at NORTHSTAR. We had 2 sessions of 3 days with 5 days of park riding at Noirkura Spring Park. Plus we had mountain biking, Tyrollean Traverse, Rock Climbing and some other fun activities. Some kids could barely clear the kicker on the first day but they we sticking nice 180′s by the end of the camp. it was so great to see these kids’ grow and learn.

This was our first “snowboarding + alpha” camp. It is a pretty standard style for camps overseas and we hope to offer this style of kids camp more.[/en]

Indy Park Jam Results

[jp]先週末はアルツ磐梯で行われた2009インディパークジャムにオフィシャルカメラマンとして参加してきました。50名を超える小学生から中学生のキッズライダーが参加し、熱いジャムセッションが繰り広げられました。このイベントを主催しているのはキララキャンプの橋本ミッチャン＆今井勇人さん。過去2年、ノーススターは彼らをサポートする形で5月に乗鞍のバックカントリーでスーパーキッズフォトセッションを行っています。今年はゴールデンウィークににキッズスノーボードキャンプを開催できるかもしれません。詳細は検討中ですが、取りあえずはキッズの熱いライディングショットをご覧下さい。我らがアンソニーはなんと2位となりました。おめでとう！[/jp][en]Last weekend I was at the 2009 Indy Park Jam which was held at Alts Bandai. It was a great comp and they had 50 kids from elementary school to junior high school turn out to compete. I was the official photographer for the event and had a great time shooting all day on Sunday. Some of our friends Hayato-san and Michio-san run the event every year and also have come to NORTHSTAR the past 2 years for a camp called Super Kids. We are working on the details for this springs kids camp and will post more about that later. For now, just have a look at some of the photos from the event.
