This weekend we had 1 luck guest for the Ride & Cut weekend. We had a good day cleaning up some down trees on one of the trails in Norikura on Saturday and then Sunday it rained. We ended up having a nice slow breakfast and then working on a new picnic bench in the NORTHSTAR basement. We are planning to build 3 more benches this spring so look for them this summer during MTB camps.

Today was a short practice session and a few local riders turned out to jam with us. This year the NORTHSTAR park is the best it has been in years thanks to lots of snow this year. We will host the second SFC Jam Session on March 5th with a live DJ, hot drinks, snacks, Dinner (1000 yen) and of corse lots of people having a good time. We hope you will come out for the main event.

I have not hiked down that trail in a long time and am more use to riding my Mt. Bike on it but we still had a good time hiking in the rain. I also hiked a section of trail for the first time and it was so beautiful.

Trail Cutter

We visited Trail Cutter “Mashi” in Ina CIty in Nagano the other day. He got a new bike rack which can hold 6 bikes on the back of his van.[/en]
[jp]トレイルは約10kmのロングトレイル。その中にアップダウンや大小のバーム等があり、上下左右に振られ笑いが止まらないハッピーライド。[/jp][en]The trail we rode is a 10km long trail with some ups and downs and berms. We enjoyed the ride. You cannot stop laughing. [/en]
[jp]朝のうちは雨で、コンディションが心配されましたが、トレイルを走っているうちに雨も上がり気持ちのよいトレイルライディングとなりました。[/jp][en]We worried about the weather because of rain but the rain stopped while we are riding. It ended up as a great trail riding day.[/en]
[jp]シングルトラックをダブルトラックでつなぐ極上トレイル。スタッフの笑顔がそれを物語っています。[/jp][en]You can tell how good the ride was with all the smiles.[/en]
[jp]今回のライドは午前午後各1本の計2本。最後は南アルプスを望む純日本的な里に出ます。[/jp][en]We rode two trails and ended up at a classic Japanese country scenic with the Souther Japan Alps.[/en]

[en]Though it may be turning March, it’s not spring just yet in Norikura. Although the plums are just blossoming down the mountain from Norikura Kogen, the ski hill is still up and running. The ski lifts will tentatively be open for one more month. Which means if you still haven’t pulled your skis or snowboard out of the closet yet this season – it’s about time! Hurry up and plan your end of winter trip to the mountain for some fun in the snow.
Rooms and Learn To Ride snowboard lessons from NORTHSTAR have limited availability, so please write or call us as soon as possible to make a reservation. NORTHSTAR’s end of season Thank You Camp could be a perfect opportunity to take your last run on the slopes. This camp special will only be available from March 28-29 and will include a FREE activity, one night of lodging, and two meals for ¥7800 per person. We have been working to clean it up a bit and create a gap for some nice air time. When we’re finished, it should look pretty nice. Hope to see you around up mountain hitting the park.
