BURTON LTR Program for Beginners
We are offering the BURTON LTR (Learn To Ride) program here at NORTHSTAR. BURTON has been developing this program with snowboard instructors all over the world over the past 10 years. BURTON LTR is designed for beginners to learn basic skills such as turning or stopping easily and to have fun from the first day on a snowbaord.
Learn how to turn in 2 hours !?
We hear many guests saying; “I don’t want to snowboard again because I fell so many times when I first tried it”, “I can’t catch up to my friends who are good already”, “I want to get good quicker”,…etc. We have many beginners who learn how to turn with in 2 to 3 days in the past, but if you do well, you can learn how to turn in two hours using the BURTON LTR program and LTR equipment.
It’s not fun to fall!
This prevents many beginner snowboarders from continuing, but we can help! The LTR snowboard edges are beveled 3 degrees. This makes it easy to start turning and also helps prevent you from falling because you are less likely to catch an edge. We have LTR snowboards for all riders from kids to adults. Enjoy snowboarding by learning faster with LTR.
Lesson Flow
- Registration/Rental Fitting
Our instructors will get you fitted with a board, boots and helmet. - Head to the Ski Resort
- Stretching
Relaxing both of your body and heart. - Basic Stance
How to put the snowboard on, stand up and safely fall. - One Foot Exercises
Practicing with front foot strap in the snowboard. - Heel Side Exercises
Practice sliding on your heel side edge with both feet strapped in. - Toe Side Exercises
Also practicing sliding on your toe side edge with both feet strapped in. - J-Turn
First step in making a turn. Start going straight and turn to stop. - C-Turn
Starting from standing sideways, turn the snowboard straight down and finish with a J-Turn. We will practice both heel side and toe side. - S-Turn
Starting from toe side C-Turn and connecting to heel side C-Turn which makes an S-Turn.
You will become a better rider than you expected with LTR snowboard rentals and NORTHSTAR’s experienced instructors.
Is Snowboarding Dangerous?
Some people still think snowboarding is dangerous. It was true that there were more accidents than skiing over ten years ago but the ration now is not so different from injuries during skiing. Our instructor will teach you how to safely fall and they will physically support students to help prevent a fall especially when they try a new technique. It is not “Fall to Learn” but “Success to Learn”. We are trying to avoid unnecessary accidents with this quick learning BURTON LTR Program.

1 Day Rental + 240 min. lesson (AM+PM): ¥8,000

Special Kids Lesson
The kids version of BURTON LTR Program is specially designed to help kids have a safe and fun time learning to ride. Kids will step up with special equipments and small class sizes (maximum 2 people) starting from the basics. This is not a program to complete S-turn in 90 min. but for supporting kids as they start riding while having a great time.

1 Day Rental + 180 min. lesson (AM+PM): ¥8,000

Age

Step Up Lesson
For those who started with a BURTON LTR lesson, we offer “Step Up Lessons”. From carving turns or riding a variety terrain, have more fun riding with a Step Up Lesson.

240 min. lesson (AM+PM): ¥6,000

Park Lessons
We will cover basic skills you need to before going into parks. Designed for those who want to start riding terrain parks and also a specific “Trick Clinic” for those who are already riding in park.
Dates
Park Basic: Every Saturday from mid January
Leaning park riding basics such as noose press, tail press, ollie, etc.
Park Challenge: Every Sunday from mid January
Clinic style lesson according to your request for box, rail, kicker, etc.

Age
4th grade and up *1st to 3rd grade will be a Special Kids Lesson.
How do I register for Lessons?
Please contact us from our Reservation Page. You can take a lesson without a reservation but please be aware that NORTHSTAR lodge guests have first priority for LTR so please contact us before coming to ensure availability.
Lesson Hours
AM – 10:00〜 / PM – 13:00〜
- Please register at NORTHSTAR 30 minutes before the lesson.
